Terms of Use

      The short version: Bean AI is a personal tool for cataloguing your coffee. Use it for yourself, be reasonable, and don't do anything that would harm others or the service.
    

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using Bean AI, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Bean AI for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

Copy, modify, or distribute the app or any part of it
Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code
Use the app for any unlawful purpose

3. Subscriptions & Purchases

Bean AI offers optional Pro subscriptions (monthly, yearly) and a lifetime purchase, processed entirely through Apple's App Store. By subscribing you agree to Apple's Media Services Terms.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings. We do not offer refunds outside of Apple's standard refund policy.

4. Your Content

Any coffee data, photos, notes, and ratings you enter into Bean AI belong to you. We do not claim ownership of your content. Your data is stored on your device and, if enabled, in your personal iCloud account.

When you use AI enrichment, anonymised coffee metadata (brand, name, origin, roast type) is sent to our backend to process your request. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

5. Prohibited Use

You agree not to use Bean AI to:

Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Attempt to overload or disrupt our backend services
Scrape, harvest, or automate requests to our AI enrichment API
Circumvent any subscription restrictions or usage limits

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

Bean AI is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content (tasting notes, brewing recipes, enrichment data) will be accurate. AI output is for informational purposes only.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bean AI and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim.

8. Changes to the App

We may update, modify, or discontinue any feature of Bean AI at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes through app updates or release notes.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
